i didn't mean to complain this early on but...
for this summer semester i'm taking 12 credits (or 4 classes. which ever way you want to look at it...) and i already, after only my second day, have mixed feelings about school.
you see, i've never done well in school. elementary school i did fine until about 3rd grade. then, after moving twice and attending 3 different schools, my academics started to take a turn for the worse. 6th grade it got incredibly bad and by middle school i was feeling pretty hopeless about myself and this whole fad people called school. i did end up graduating from high school (after long agonizing hours of lots and lots make-up work) and somehow i pulled through hair school as well. but naturally after all that, i vowed that i. was. done.
but guess what? i was wrong. last year i started getting the urge to go to school again. since i finally figured out what i wanted to do with my life i thought it'd be a good idea to do so.
only now, here i am and i'm wondering if i was right.
the thing is, i love my classes. they're all really interesting and i get excited hearing things that will help my future out. but the fact that i have to show up at 8:45am (again, early for me) three days a week (mon, wed, and fri) and turn in assignments and take tests and yadda, yadda, yadda is what gets me. i feel like its controlling my life. taking away my freedom to sleep in or hang out with my friends or whatever else it is i would choose to do. obviously i lack the discipline needed for a college student. but with school and homework and then a job on top of that, i'm wondering when i'll get time to be me...
i guess a change of attitude is in order. i know that what i'm learning will help make me a better person not only in my line of profession but in my personal life as well. so why can't i just shut up and be grateful?

the freshman chronicles: intro
**first of all, please go to just a small town girl and read this post. everyone should take the time to do this whether they love or hate their body. what a magnificent exercise! -good luck kathleen!-
okay, well, i've started school officially.
yep. i'm 24 years old and a freshman in college. i know i'm starting late, but i don't care. at least i'm doing it.
my first thought the morning of my first day of school was "what was i thinking, signing up for an 8:45am (early for me) class?" but i was able to quickly get over it and make my way to school. my roomie, kiki, was so kind as to not only drive me to school, but to walk me through the campus so i wouldn't be completely lost when trying to find my classes. i know. what a great roomie right? i was half expecting her to take my hand and tell the other kids to "be nice to her little girl" but it didn't happen. luckily.
even though i only have four classes, three of them are pretty spread out over campus. its a lot of walking and not much time to do so. i'm thinking about getting a segway to help me get from class to class on time. plus it would be pure awesomeness riding around campus on one while all the jealous haters just stared at me. and i think its legal. someone was riding their mountain bike in the building the other day so i figure a segway would be alright.
my first class (public speaking) went on with no slip ups. i was on time, the teacher was pretty awesome (he's pretty funny, and laid back which works for me) and my fellow students are all really outgoing. score. score. score.
my next class (intro to business) was a little different. i had time to make friends with a kid (who is also in my public speaking class) and get to my next class v-e-r-y early (something i was worried about due to the fact that its clear across campus) because our professor... or teacher, whatever it is, didn't show up. after 30 minutes of waiting, we all bolted. it was a good thing i had lots of time because i got lost trying to find my next class. i most definitely would have been late and no one wants that on their first day. i even had a few minutes to browse through the bookstore and contemplate getting a jamba juice (i decided against it).
so then my third class of the day (intro to writing) started. the teacher is great. he's a professor by day and a lawyer by... afternoon. one of the first things we talked about was the world cup, which, as a soccer fan, is great fun. however, he did give me my first assignment of my 2010 school year. a narrative essay.
my last class (american government) was... interesting. besides the fact that i'm one of three girls (the rest of the class is made up of boys, boys, and more boys. that's the kind of minority you want to be!) my extremely cynical teacher (no really. he's so cynical i'm surprised he's not british.) walked in and started off by saying (this is not a word for word quote, but it is a true quote) "i'm not going to take roll, or learn your names because i don't care what they are. i've already looked at all of you and made my judgments and i know which ones of you are losers and which ones aren't." whoa! okay. i hope he didn't put me in the loser category...
over all, first day wasn't bad. i have a feeling its going to get a bit more tough pretty quick though...

dear all bachelor and bachelorette contestants,

love,

and
dear us soccer team,
ghana deserved to win with the way you played. you gave up. you can't always suck in the first half and come back strong. when will you learn that? boo.

as the world turns.
so, i've been thinking a lot about my blog lately. since i left home i haven't blogged that much (obviously) and what i have blogged has been pretty much just fluff that i put up so i'd actually have a post. i don't like that. i liked sharing my random bits of nothingness with the bloggersphere and all that kind of good stuff. but since i've moved, i feel like a little bit of a different person. my life is different. i'm surround by different things now, different people and situations. thus, my thoughts on life have been slightly altered. i'm still me, but everyday i (as does everyone else) grow and learn and develop new characteristics, likes and dislikes, friends, and opportunities.
because of all this, i've decided to take a slightly different approach on my blogging. you may not even notice the changes, but i will know they're there. i hope that along with the changes, you can all accept my adjustments. if not, if my blog gets too boring or personal for you, i understand.
that's life.
anyway, just thought i'd let you know what i am thinking. mostly because i like to know what others are thinking (that's why i read blogs!)
hope everyone is doing well. i love to read your comments and blog posts. it helps me realize there are still some awesome people left in this world. :)
cheerio.

here's what you missed.
well, i'm back. officially.
the crazy thing is i didn't really even plan a hiatus but life happened and so i decided to enjoy my break which, can i just tell you, has been nothing short of wonderful. - i even took a break from the book i'm writing. (oops!)
don't get me wrong, i love blogging, but not doing it for awhile has been super nice too.
anyway, since i don't have endless amounts of interesting things to write about, i'll just fill you in on what has been going on in my life since my last actual post (which was on may 26th... wow.)
my younger brother, "gregward" (new nick name for the brother. he looks identical to r-patz.), graduated from high school (woot! woot!) and since my sister came up for that from st.g i decided to go back with her and call it quits in idaho. see i've been anticipating this move for a few months now but the last time i moved away from home it was a monstrous disaster which involved many, many tears and me high tailing back to mommy and daddy's house with my tail between my legs. not. good.
so this time i decided to do things a little differently. i decided to take an "extended vacation". aka leave like i was going on vacay and not head back until it was just to get the rest of my stuff. so far this has been working out much better than the last move. i've only cried twice and my separation issues have been much less. thank goodness.
anywhooser. so, i've been in utah for the last few weeks. in that time i have:
seen:
{via}
prince of persia
which is like, one of the best. movies. ever. if you haven't seen it, stop reading this blog and go watch it right. now. - i've seen it twice already.
{via}
iron man 2
also a great flick. the first one was still better but this is definitely worth seeing.
{via}
robin hood
again, great film. its the before story of how robin hood becomes an outlaw and i loved it. and i don't even like russel crowe!
p.s. mark strong was awesome in this. awesome.
i've also been house hunting. (p.s. found an apartment and we move in next week. yayyyy!) and hanging out with long lost friends, eating froyo at my fave froyo place and cupcakes at my fave cupcake place, shopping (oops. i should have avoided this!), searching for jobs (applied at forever 21 the other day. i. will. work. there.) and just having an all around good time.
i've also recently been introduced and addicted to this:
how i met your mother.
i know its on like its 5th season already but i just wasn't interested. then the roomie, kim, suggested we watch it and i obliged. now i'm kind of addicted and love it.
its like will and grace and friends smooshed into one show. not to mention (thanks to neil patrick harris) its hilarious. i recommend it if you're looking for a new show to watch.
other then that, i start school on the 24th (yikes!) and have a lot of moving to do (which means a lot of decorating to do. can i get a ya-hoo? i ♥ decorating.)
what has everyone been up to while i was away?
i've been trying to catch up on all the blogs but its a lot of reading for just one night!!!
peace out everyone.
stay wonderful.
p.s. welcome to all my new followers!!! leave a comment, tell me about yourself! i'd love to check out your blog.

yesterday...
yesterday, after much debating, searching around and building myself tons of different types of computers, i finally got myself one of these:
{hp pavillion dv6t in shell white. - via}
it should be here within the next 5-7 business days and i couldn't be more excited.
there's more to buying a laptop than i ever really realized.
you have to make decisions like:
am i a pc or a mac? (and quite frankly i'm neither. that whole "i'm a pc" or "i'm a mac" thing is kind of pointless to me. i just wanted a computer that would fulfill my needs in the way that i need them fulfilled.)
how much money do i want to spend?
how much memory/ram/storage do i need?
can i get a warranty?
a student discount?
etc.
it took me about 4 or 5 days to find the perfect laptop for myself, but i found it. (which i so couldn't have done without the help of my amazing friend who knows a ton about computers. thanks again mick.)
hopefully with the arrival of my brand new computer, i'll be back to my regular blogging schedule soon!
until then, have a good one peeps.
you pretty much rock.

stay awesome.
so here is the story. one of our computers crashed (right at the end of crush week! bah!) and we're down to one computer which is currently being used for my brother's home school. which means no blogging for me for awhile and i can't read your blogs either.
just know i heart you all and i'll keep in touch as often as possible.
stay awesome.

crush week {day 4 - fictional crushes.}
okay so just like we all have girl crushes (or if your a guy "bromance") we also have fictional character crushes. don't try to deny it or act like its weird because that just makes you look weird. what, you've never had a fictional crush before? psh.
here are some totally, utterly, and completely fake people who i'll admit, i crushed on for a bit.
(granted some where a while ago some are... more recent, either way, i dug 'em.)
{mr. darcy}
oh is that colin firth i see?
why yes, yes it is. what a coincidence.
{chuck bass}
wait, is that... ed westwick?!
i think it is!
again, coincidence.
{percy jackson}
i know, i know he's young.
whatever.
so is taylor lautner... and justin b(ie)(ei)ber.
{edward cullen/jacob black}
yep. that's right. i'm team no one.
bella is stupid and if we're speaking fictionally here, i don't think she deserves either of them. not one bit.
{jack sparrow}
anyone else excited for pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides?
i am.
and
legolas
i cringe to think this guy was played by orlando bloom.
blck. irregardless, i had a poster of him on my wall.
who are/were yours?
don't lie.
i know you have them.

crush week {day 3 - my british love.}
it seems i have a thing for british guys. i don't know why that is, it just happens that way. usually its not till after i've liked them for awhile that i realize they're british.
lets take a look at celeb crushes i've had that are all coincidentally british!
(of course)
(of course)
{jude law}
and
any brits you like?
do tell.

crush week {day 2 - girl crush.}
thank you to kelly at dare to be domestic for sharing this story.
okay folks. its time for day 2 of crush week.
girl crushes.
we all have them. some of us just don't admit it.
mine consist of a few actresses, a singer, reality t.v. star and even a vs model (who doesn't love the angels!) all these women are not only beautiful but they've all also inspired me in one way or another. - aw tender...
take a look:
{actress.}
{actress/singer.}
{reality t.v. star}
{actress.}
{victoria's secret angel/model.}
and
{actress/singer.}
what more do i need to say?
who are your girl crushes? i know you have them!

its crush week! {day 1 - kid crushes.}
its crush week ladies and gents.
i hope you're ready. i know i am.
as a girl, my life has been greatly affected by: crushes.
i've had crushes ever since i was very little and so this week i've decided to talk about those crushes.
crush week: kid crushes.
(okay first of all can i just clarify i'm talking about crushes i had when i was a kid. not kids i have a crush on now. i'm no cougar/creepy pedophile - okay thanks.)
even as a kid there were guys that could get me all starry eyed and twitterpated.
at certain points in my life, there was little i loved more, then crushing on these boys:
rufio, rufio, ru-fi-oooooooo.
i was 6 when this movie (hook) came out.
i was also in love - with rufio.
jtt (johnathon taylor thomas)
(crush year(s): 1991-1998)
the first celeb poster i ever had hanging in my room was of jtt (i also had a calendar.)
i would say he was my biggest "child-hood-crush" (and longest.)
i would say he was my biggest "child-hood-crush" (and longest.)
i watched tom and huck, man of the house, pinocchio, i'll be home for christmas, and the lion king about a million times each, because of jtt.
boy i thought he was a hunk.
now rumor is, he's gay. don't know if its true or not but go figure.
devon sawya
(crush year(s): 1994-1997)
was there any girl who didn't watch casper and little giants over and over again just to watch the devster work his beautiful charm? - the best was wild america because you not only got devon, you got jtt as well. *sigh*
luke skywalker
(crush year(s): early 90's)
one of my guy friends would come over all the time and we'd reenact star wars.
i was leya. he was luke.
i loved how luke handled his light saber.
what a hottie.
adam banks
(crush year(s): 1992-1996)
i distinctly remember every girl who was a fan of the mighty ducks was a fan of the dreamy adam banks.
atreyu
(crush year(s): early 90's)
i cried when atreyu's horse died in the first movie (the never ending story), and cheered when atreyu triumphed.
i guess my love for brown skin started at a very early age.

i guess my love for brown skin started at a very early age.
when i got a little older it was all about:
*nsync
i loved these boys. i wrote hundreds of pages worth of fan fiction about these boys!
(if they ever do a reunion tour, i am so there.)
and eminem
(i don't know why i liked him so much. i just did. maybe i was going through my "bad boy" stage. maybe it was because he reminded me of m&ms. i don't know really.)
and
health ledger
(may he rest in peace)
okay so i crushed him till the day he died. that was a sad, sad day.
*sigh* young love. isn't it grand?
although i look back at 99.9% of those guys and wonder what i was thinking, i'll never forget how cute i thought they were.
who did you crush when you were younger?
i wanna know.
until next time,

do you know what i love?
i love ridiculously adorable things.

its the vamps b-day.
*please forgive me for this post. :)
happy birthday robert.
(my one true love.)
my how you've grown. we've had some fun times together haven't we?
remember when i was anxiously waiting in my theatre seat for harry potter 4 to begin?
you came on the screen as cedric diggory and i shouted to the entire theatre "cedric diggory is my boyfriend!" (and then those rude, insensitive-to-young-love spinsters turned around and shushed me. but i didn't care because i knew we'd always be in love!)
and it seems like just yesterday when ashes texted me and said cedric diggory was just cast as edward cullen. (ironically, ash was also in the theatre w/ me when i professed my love for you the first time...)
after that a world of love and hate surrounded us, but we remained strong.
i've always been there for you.
then you became "robsten" and "r-patz" and all sorts of other horrible people.
but i've always forgave you for the bad things you've dong (remember me, kristen stewart).
and in the end, i've always known our love was true.
you come second to no one (except for ben barnes) and i hope you look back and smile at the fun times we've had, just like i do.
happy birthday.
(ha. ha. ha.)
ciao,

p.s. is it just me or do robert and jt look alike?
