{daily} smiles. #2

whew! more {smiles} already. :)

today i had 2 major big daily smiles.

the first one:

i finished my book: enna burning by shannon hale

this book was {incredible}!

i couldn't put it down.

and now, since i have loved the first one (goose girl) so much and now this one too, i want to incoorperate the names of my favorite characters into my children's names. so. future daughters: i hope you don't mind having {enna} or {isilee} for middle names.

my second smile:

 yep, another book! this book came in to the library today. {huzzah}!

i started reading the percy jackson series about 2 weeks ago and i. love. them.

SO good! this is number 3 and then i will only have 2 more. i'll be sad when its over.

(but then the movie is coming out in {february} so... i'll be good again.)

i'm not much of a cook.

however, one day i was feeling rather {creative}, and so i made some brownies,

but added a little bit of peanut butter into them.

now they are a craze in my family.

awhile ago i wrote about my shoe obsession right?

well, lets take a look at these {beauties}:

the thing i love so much about shoes is, they have a history.

each and every pair.

i always look at people's shoes and wonder:

what were they {thinking} when they bought those?

how much were they?

were they a gift?

were have they been worn?

(some of my shoes have been alllllllll the way across the world.)

and if shoes could talk, what kind of {story} would they tell?

(besides complaining immensly about stinky feet!)

well, the history of the shoes you see above goes like this:

my friend and i went shopping in vegas, she's obsessed with camo print things.

we went into {charlotte russe} (love that store!) and found these shoes.

she tried them on, they didn't fit, she made me try them on, they fit.

then, to live vicariously through me she made me buy them.

i didn't really even like them that much.

that was like 4 years ago.

now, i love them. and i wear them all the time.

so thanks kim. for making me buy them!

they have horrible taste in girls.

- dresses. (or patterns for dresses so i can make them!)

{weekly} smiles #1.

as i said earlier i've been having a {tough} few weeks lately,

and i've really needed a pick me up.

well thank goodness for smiles.

here is where i've found my "weekly smiles" this week.

the national dog show:

okay so i have this weird thing about {dog shows}: i love them!

back in february i was in and out of the doctors offices for a whole bunch of icky tests and it was a pretty weird time for me to be living through. one day, in the waiting room for one of my more invasive tests my mom and i sat and watched the one channel that they had on television. at the time, the {national dog show} was playing. sitting in the waiting room with my mom, watching the dog show, was a calm in my stormy day. watching the dogs {prance} around and be judged, for some reason, eased my nerves and made me feel more relaxed. - after the doctors appointment was over, my mom and i agreed that all we wanted to do was curl up in warm blankets, pop some pop corn, and watch the {dog show}. from then on, i've liked the dog shows because it takes me back to that happy time i had in my very (at that time) stressful life. now whenever my mom or i are having a bad day, we say to each other "i wish the dog show was on." 

so, as if sent from above, on thanksgiving, the national dog show was playing again! i was able to sit and watch it with my siblings, and just {relax}.

it was good to remember how i felt the first time i had watched it.

and my second smile this week, came from:

t-mobile

i don't have a job and so i've been having quite the {difficult} time making ends meet (just like everyone else right now right?). i'm behind on quite a few bills and have been trying desperatley to get a job, but to no avail. (none of this is written to make you feel bad for me. its just a background explaination).

well, my phone bill was due {recently} and i still have yet to pay it. today though, when i opened the mail, i found i had received a $50 gift card from t-mobile that i could put towards my bill. (it was because of all the sidekick problems they've had and i just so happened to have a sidekick. huzzah.) when i saw the gift card, it was re-confirmed to me, that God {loves} me, and that he does watch out for me.

so i've started reading this {awesome} blog recently, written by someone called naomi/taza.

she's just a normal girl like me,

"what brought this suggestion on?" you might ask.

well, i've been having a downer few weeks lately (minus my totally awesome thanksgiving), and i've really needed a {dang} good pick me up.

see, naomi/taza does this awesome thing called happy lists. 

and so, today (out of inspiration via naomi/taza), i've decided to start something like that (in my next post). i'm calling it {"daily/weekly smiles"} because so many times, its the simple things in life, that really make me smile and help me get through. from here on out, every now and then i'll be sharing what simple thing helped me out on any particular day.

i hope you'll join with me in recognizing the {simple} things in your life.

fun fact friday #3.

are you so excited for this weeks fun fact friday?

i have thought about it pretty much all week,

and i've decided to share (in celebration of the rapidly approaching christmas season):

ever since i was little, i have been able to figure out what i'm getting for christmas. 

all it takes is for me to simply shake a box, or for someone to say "i know what i'm getting you" and i can usually determine what it is.  

i've only been surprised once so far. - it was christmas 2007 and my parents totally and 100% surprised me with a blackberry phone.

it was the greatest.

let us give thanks.

{thanksgiving} this year was different for us.

usually we get together with all our cousins, grandparents, aunts&uncles.

but this year, we decided to stay in our {cozy} little house.

so it was just the 8 of us.

it gave me a different outlook on {thanksgiving},

yes i cried once cause i missed all my cousins,

but i soon realized that my holiday could have been a lot worse.

i could have:

no home.

no family.

no food.

some people didn't even have those things, and so my {heart} went out to those who were alone, and hungry, and cold on this holiday.

so i was (as I always am) so grateful to be surrounded by family that loves me, and whom i love.

i hope you all had a wonderful {thanksgiving}. because you all deserved it.

as for what we did this year:

we had {delicious} food, played games, and made a dent in our annual christmas movie list.

it was a great day, and i'm so grateful for such a wonderful {holiday} where we can celebrate being grateful.

life is beautiful,

new moon. ah!

i went to {new moon} on thursday.

it was incredible.

so much better than {twilight} (and thank goodness!)

one of my besties said it right when she said:

"new moon was what {twilight} should have been."

so right.

we made shirts, and had a little get together before hand

(everyone brought a treat to the party that was {twilight} themed.

ours were soda pops labled as different blood types.),

then we went to the theatre,

and were {dazzled} by the pretty boys and awesome movie.

i'll go see it again asap.

last night at 2am, sissykins and i went out to watch the {meteor shower}.

we only saw one incredibly huge one, and the rest were small.
